Lee Chapman, May 2020

Lee Chapman recites LP
I bought an LP
at a garage sale
two—bucks
but—didn’t play it
right away
waiting for the—right time
       I never played it

eventually
we moved
I threw out
my entire
LP collection

I thought about
buying the CD
or looking in the library
       but I didn’t

I thought about
checking out Youtube
       but I didn’t

I think about
flying to Paris
attending a performance
at the Palais Garnier
       but I won’t

I wonder
if the trash men
saw boxes of LPs
mostly Beatles
as treasures
and sold them
or better yet
       listened
The LP was Pelléas et Mélisande, if you must know
